Our Growing Family
I have had no motivation to blog! We are expecting a baby girl in January and are super excited! I don't know about you, but when I am pregnant I don't get a whole lot of stuff done. I told Kimball I can accomplish one thing around the house a day. Really one thing...don't come to my house. Most days it's pretty scary. But, I'm okay with the chaos because I know it will pass when my sweet little girl is here!

Birthdays!
We celebrated Dieter and Samantha's birthdays over the weekend.
Samantha's birthday was May 11th and Dieter's June 11th.
Dieter was so excited!
He has been waiting for everyone to sing to him :)
And he has been practicing holding up 3 fingers. (it's hard work for a little one).
I made these cupcakes with marshmallow frosting.
They loved them!

My attempt to take the kids swimming
It wasn't very successful.
We made it to the city pool.
The have an awesome play area for little ones.
Dieter wanted to sit on the bench and eat his snacks. The. Whole. Time.
When we finally made it to the water, he didn't want to get in.
Samantha was terrified and clung to my neck.
Dieter eventually stepped in the water and I think he even laid down in it.
Next time, I will take Kimball.
I thought Samantha looked adorable in her swim suit though.
I love the chubby thighs!

Camping
We had a short camping trip over the weekend.
Being in the mountains is so peaceful and relaxing.
Kimball has been working out of town so this was a fun little trip for our family.
Dieter loved the river best.
Throwing rocks is his thing!
I also loved the river.
Especially the sound.
Somehow, I need to move a river into my backyard. :)

Slacking...
My motivation is completely lacking to blog.
My kids are so much happier when I'm not on the computer as much.
In fact, I feel happier too.
It's amazing how many other things I can accomplish
when I'm not on the computer.
Pulling weeds, planting, feeding animals, cleaning (definitely unmotivated to do that),
playing with my kids, reading, sewing, the list goes on...
Hopefully motivation comes back soon :)
I made this adorable dress for Samantha.
I was so proud of myself!
It is the first thing I have sewed while following a pattern.
It turned out great.
I'm excited to start sewing more often.
Find pattern here.
Have a fabulous weekend!
See you next week!

And she is 1...
Samantha's birthday is today!
I'm not sure where that year went?
She has brought so much happiness into our home.
She is always happy!
She loves to blow kisses and wave goodbye.
She will only sleep next to her mama at night. (I know. I know.)
She loves Dieter.
I think her favorite thing to do is play on the bed with Daddy and Dieter.
She loves watching the chickens.
Kimball is out of town working today.
We will plan a combined birthday party for Dieter and Samantha.
Happy Mother's Day to all of you wonderful Mothers out there!
Kimball asked me what I wanted for Mother's Day.
I said, "Don't worry, I have myself covered with these shoes."
Have a great time with your families!

Catching Up
Kimball has been out of town.
So I have been catching up on Downton Abbey.
I can watch shows like that when he's gone. :)
I love it!
I love it!
Here is my to do list for this weekend:
Pull more weeds.
Organize book shelf.
Pack away clothes that are too small for kids.
Give Kimball a huge hug and a big kiss... And one more big hug...and a kiss :)
Smile while I watch Kimball play with Dieter and Samantha!
I hope your weekend is fabulous!

We have a lot of chickens!
Around 130!
Your probably wondering what we will do with them?
Our freezer will be full and we'll have more eggs than we know what to do with.
I can't wait!

Biscuits for Dinner
Last night for dinner, I made these biscuits. So good! You can never go wrong with cream and butter. Really, those two ingredients make everything better. I will be making them again tonight!
And I love her hair! I wonder if I can figure it out?

Other things to do...
Hi! How is everyone?
The camera I have been using is being fixed so I haven't been able to take any pictures.
I feel very unmotivated to blog lately.
Here are a few reasons why...
The weather has been nice and we've been playing outdoors.
I have so many weeds to pull. Why do they grow faster than anything else???
I bought an old table that I am sanding down. I'm thinking teal and cream for the paint.
I love to quilt! I have started a new quilt using this material.
In the meantime my house needs a good scrubbing.
And I have a few books I want to finish up.
Not to mention my cute little kiddos that want my attention...
That explains it!
This pasta looks yummy.
Find Recipe Here.

Dear Family,
In case any of you have tried to call me,
I am not ignoring you. I have lost my phone. Again.
This time it has been lost since Saturday. Darn.
I will go get a new one today.
And, I bought some bacon.
I'm going to try this Bacon, Cheddar and Chive Scones recipe.
Looks Yummy.
Find recipe here.

The difference between boys and girls...
Dieter likes to shower.
He showers with me or Kimball.
The other day after Dieter and I just got out of the shower, this was our conversation,
Dieter: Mama, you don't have a pee-pee, huh?
Me: Nope. I don't have one.
Dieter: Ya, me and daddy have a pee-pee.
Me: Yep, daddy has one too.
Dieter: Ya, only boys. You have to go pee out your bum.
Me: (Laughing) You probably can't shower with mama anymore!
Pee out your bum? Funny Boy!
There you have it folks.
He's discovered the difference.

What we eat
Samantha eating applesauce.
I've had some questions on what we usually eat. I love simple meals. A few times a week I am trying out different recipes, but we usually eat the same things. I should get more creative! Kimball and I do go out to eat. Maybe once or twice a month.
Breakfast
Eggs. Always. There easy and Dieter loves them.
Smoothie with milk kefir and pineapple. We only have this when I have pineapple.
On Sundays we have sausage.
Lunch
Usually leftovers. I loved having soups all winter. It was so easy to have for leftovers.
Pizza. It is easy to cook up for Dieter.
Ground hamburger with salt.
Chicken.
Steamed broccoli and cauliflower.
Dinner
I have to be more creative for dinner. If I remember, I will start cooking a chicken or beef roast in the afternoon.
I am big on sourdough pizza right now (for Kimball and I).
Pork chops. Our whole family loves those.
Spagetti is easy.
I've been making these biscuits a lot.
Steamed vegetables.
Fermented carrots.
Home canned beans.
Home canned honey peaches.
Beets.
Squash. We don't have any more in the root cellar. It is so expensive to buy, but I still do it.
Now that it is getting warmer. I will be looking for a lot more crock pot recipes.
Snacks/Desserts
We all love these almond biscuits.
Coconut flour bread is good.
If I need a treat, I cook custard, pudding, or gingersnap cookies. They are all simple.
Raisins. Dieter loves them. Really people. I think he would choose raisins over anything.
Dried apricots or nectarines.
What Samantha Eats
Breast milk.
Chicken and stock.
Steamed broccoli and cauliflower/ vegetables.
Eggs. Boiled (I only give her the yoke) and scrambled.
Homemade applesauce.
Fermented carrots.
Bananas.
Dried Apricots. I let her suck on them until they fall apart. Then I take them.
I give her the crust on Dieter's pizza.
Squash.
Raisins.
There you have it. I'm sure I have missed many things but that gives you a idea. Oh, and I am trying not to snack and trying not to give Dieter snacks. You might think I am strict, but he eats better when he doesn't snack. I will give him a snack in-between lunch and dinner.
