FAQ

When did you start your blog?
I started blogging in 2008, but Raising Dieter was started October 2011. Spread the word! Become a follower!

Do you buy organic food?
Usually if it's cheaper. Every now and again I buy apples and grapes organic because that is what Dieter likes most.

Where do you get your recipes?
Right now a majority of my recipes are coming from the Internal Bliss - GAPS Cookbook (Recipes designed for those following the Gut and Psychology Syndrome Diet). I have a few other cookbooks that I just adjust accordingly.

Does Samantha have allergies?
She vomits the most after I have dairy products and processed food (She is still nursing.) I don't think she necessarily has allergies... time will tell. Kimball and I definitely have weaknesses that we've passed to our children (We have a cute little Dieter Bear that is allergic to everything). The diet we are on now will help us heal our bodies- all of our bodies.

What diet are you on?
Please read Gut and Psychology Syndrome. I have read many of books and it finally outlined how to heal our guts and strengthen our immune systems. It takes some sacrifice, but definitely worth it once our family is healed.

What are Dieter's allergies?
Right now he is off of all grains, dairy, soy, corn, refined sugars, tree nut, and anything processed. You would think there is nothing left to eat... Don't be discouraged if you have allergies. There are so many good things to eat!

What do you eat most often?
Right now, chicken soup and stock. Dieter is on the introductory stage in the diet. Our fruits are limited (Dieter has severe diarrhea if he eats more than a couple a day.) We eat a lot of eggs, we have raw milk, any whole foods, vegetables, coconut products... I make some snacks and desserts, but not daily.

Do you raise your own animals?
We are blessed to have a little bit of land (not a lot, 1.5 acres) We raise our own meat chickens, laying chickens, beef, and pork. Do what you can on your land. Start with a couple of laying chickens if nothing else. They are so fun to have around.

Where do you get your raw milk?
Kimball has a friend that is a dairy farmer. But in the next couple of months we are getting our own dairy cow (I am very excited for that.) You can find raw milk in you area at Real Milk

How do you keep food from Dieter?
Dieter has always had allergies. When we tell him he can't have something, he knows. Dairy makes me the most worried with him. He is on a good probiotic and hopefully he'll move through the diet quickly so he is healed from allergies.

What probiotics are you on?
Dieter is on Baby Biotic. Kimball and I also buy our probiotics from there.

Do you always use your own pictures?
No. Some of the recipes I post are not in our diet at the moment. I will tell you where I got the picture from. I will also tell you if I got the recipe off of the internet.

Have your children ever been on antibiotics?
No, neither Dieter or Samantha. My children have never had ear infections. I can count on one hand the number of times Dieter has been sick. I think antibiotics have there place, but we have never needed them. I think your diet has a lot to do with your health (and sickness.)

What do you do when your children are sick?
I use essential oils and a diffuser (I bought a $30 one from Amazon.) Alot of fluids, high Vitamin C foods (broccoli is high.) Chicken stock is good for flu and colds. Any foods with probiotics in it (yogurt, saurkraut.)
